My name is Mike and I am a member of an Italian typography telegram channel (of course I am, how very #randomdads of me!). The channel, set up by FIRM.GS the Milano based graphic design super studio, is a place for members to share interesting and odd bits of what I’d call ‘vernacular typography’. Weird signs, shit logos, bizarre livery and beautiful day to day examples of lettering and design. Admittedly, rather a niche space, but that’s the wonder of the internet and social media, we can find “our people” online wherever they are in the world. This dedicated channel allows members to post and view posts in chronological order without the malevolent machinations of the dreaded algorithm. I love it, dropping in every couple of days to see what funny images have been posted and reading what I assume is the banter between members (always in Italian, which I cannot read).
So, I thought, I’d love a space where I could do the same thing but about hats. Cool hats, weird hats, new hats, old hats, people wearing hats, stories about hats. You get the idea.
