Marvin - Patina 01
18 months ago we set a length of fabric outside of the workshop to see what would happen. After one year of sunshine and rain, hot and cold, more rain, we brought it in, washed and dried it then gazed in wonder at the wonderfully weathered patina it had developed. The original heavy cotton had shed its waxed coating and was now covered with an organic 'camouflage' pattern. The once uniform colour had transformed into a plethora of tones that are peppered with wrinkles, spots and imperfections. Beautiful!
Six months later and it's 2023, time to turn this one of a kind fabric into hats. An edition of just five Marvin Mountain caps, handmade and individually waxed in our Manchester workshop. With differences in tone and detail, each one is more unique than usual!
The lining is a 'warp knitted' polyester micro fleece, woven in Nottingham, and the peak is reinforced with a wire insert. An elastic shock-cord allows adjustment of size right around the head, making it a ‘one size fits all’ hat that does actually fit everyone comfortably.
